The Trinity Sailing Trust
The Trust, based in South Devon, works to assist the personal development of disadvantaged young people, especially those who are at risk of failing to make a success of adult life.
Using offshore sail training on traditional vessels as a means of engaging with the young people and helping them discover the best in themselves, Trinity builds self-confidence, teaches a range of life skills and motivates them to take positive steps that will improve their future prospects. The organisations with which Trinity works believe that what it offers is by far the best means of capturing the spirit of these young people and changing their attitudes and expectations.
The Trust operates four historic vessels, former sailing trawlers built between 1892 and 1924, and believes that providing them with a socially useful modern role is the best way of ensuring their survival.
The funds raised for the Trust are used to provide bursary support to deserving young people.
